I just wanted to hear if anyone has a link to the official Web API limitations regarding expands? My customers are requesting them, and I’m only able to find the limitations regarding requests etc.
It looks like single-valued navigation properties are limited to one expand before it throws:“The "<property name>" navigation property can't be expanded. Multiple levels of expansion aren't supported.”
Whereas collection-valued navigation properties are limited to two expands before it throws:“The navigation property '<property name>' can't be expanded. Expansion more than two levels is not supported”
And expanding single-valued navigation properties inside expanded collection-valued navigation properties will count towards the first limitation. So, it’s not possible to expand two collection-valued navigation properties followed by one single-valued navigation property.
I found no documentation that stated that what exact limitation for multi level expansion.
It seems that the feature was not be implemented in D365 OData protocol.
But you can still works with fetchXML if you had such requirement.
