We have and opportunity, quote and order created for a customer and now they want to change the account. Is there a way that i can simply point the opportunity to the new account and it affects quotes and orders associated with it or should i create the whole process again for the new account or is there another way to address this.
Thanks in advance for your response.
The behavior related to this will depend on the relationship between the Opportunity and the Quote entity (opportunity_quotes) and the Opportunity to the Order entity.
You are not really able to change this with Opportunity to Quote and the system relationship, it is what it is. Other entities will say "Parental" and you will be able to change those configurations. To see what happens when you change owner you can look here:
If you change the Owner of your Opportunity this will CASCADE ALL to the Quote and change the owner of all the quotes to the Owner of the Opportunity. I assume that the Order is setup the same way. You can see the other cascade options setup on this relationship as well.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for your response Drew.
That's what i thought so basically if i change the owner of the opportunity it will change the owner for the corresponding quote and order but if the Account of the opportunity is re assigned it does nothing to the corresponding quote and order. Is that right?
If the Account to Opportunity has the cascading setup it will cascade all the way down. :) Normally this is the default setup. If you change the owner on the Account it will change the Opportunity, Quote, Order, etc.
