I have a relationship between opportunities and accounts that fills automatically the country of the account when choosing an account:
But when I want to create an opportunity from the associated view of a contact, it does not work, the country field is empty:
I am using Dynamics 365 for sales on-premises 8.2
Could someone help me on this problem please?
Thank you in advance,
It looks like the Country field you are viewing on your Opportunity form belongs to the account record. It could be that nothing is being automatically filled, instead when you specify the account, the "Country (Account)" field acts as a window through to the country information on the account you have selected.
It's hard to know without more details on the opportunity form you're using
Use Quick view form or script to pull right values on selection of account in the lookup.
To achieve auto filling of country when creating from associated opportunities view, please creating proper mapping in the relevant relationship.
This is not a field from a quick view form.
I need to have this field in the opportunity entity, because of a region information I want to display in opportunity products views.
This field is mapped to the country field of the account entity, and the cascading relationship works in the usual way to create an oportunity. What I want to know is why it does not work when I create an opportunity from an associated view...
Your screenshots show you are trying to create the opportunity from contact entity. The country information is shown in account entity.
Is this what you want to achieve? (System should get the country from account related to the contact and populate in opportunity?)
Should I create a relationship between the Contact entity and the opportunity entity ?I create the opportunity from the contact record.
I hope opportunity already has a relationship with Contact.
If you want the system to read the country value from Contact's account, this can be done in following ways.
1. Copy country from account to contact.
2. Update the mapping for opportunity-contact relationship
1. Plugin on create of opportunity to read the related account's country.
1. Update the contact-opportunity mapping to copy account value from contact to opportunity
2. Create a workflow that triggers on create of opportunity
3. Via workflow read the account's country and update in opportunity.
Thank you! I used 1st option.
