Currently my organization (let's call it Org X) is running on Microsoft Dynamics 365. The system was implemented in 2011. The business has since changed with the times but this specific system has not been updated at all. We use a custom version for sales and account management. There is dirty data everywhere, the fields are not used correctly, the custom UI that was made is now a dinosaur. So my question is how do we start over? Let me preface this by saying I am not a superuser of Dynamics by any means. However, all I hear from different departments are things like:"We can't even pull a report to understand how many customers we have""When I do a query, there are so many fields that are now not used, it's very difficult to find what I'm looking for""The interface is so old and not user friendly"My thought is to start by creating new forms and workflows in a sandbox to get the business processes updated but we truly need a new Dynamics 365 as a whole. ANY advice is appreciated.
Hi, Please share your CRM organization version from About. Also are you using Online or On Prem CRM?
First of all we suggest you to upgrade the CRM to version 9.x.
If you want to stay in version 2011 (I assume that this the version you are currently using) then you have to create a sandbox and redesign the entire entity forms and fields based on your current organization need. This will be a time consuming process and there is no automate way available to achieve this. After redesigning you can import the data and take the sandbox backup to production.
If you consider upgrading to version 9.x you can use Microsoft's migration team assistance on clearing up unnecessary configuration during the migration process.
