Changing the Opportunity owner also changes the owner of all related Quotes. This is system behavior so I am unable to change it. We have a requirement where Opportunities are owned by team leads and the Quotes are owned by sales team member. And at times we might have to change the Opportunity owner from one team lead to another and this reassigns all the related bids which is not a desired outcome. I wanted to know if someone has found a workaround for this?As a potential solution I am thinking I can store the value of the Quote owner in a new field (say tempQuoteOwner) and start a workflow on a Quote each time its reassigned. If the new quote owner and the opportunity owner match then set the quote owner to tempQuoteOwner. Does this seem like a viable solution? Any other options? Thanks in advance.
this could be possible with a plugin where you catch the assign request.
I am not 100% sure which message this could be, but maybe this leads you in the direction.
Might also trigger on "On Update of Opportunity" and check if the assignee was changed, what the Context of this change is and cancel the change.
Also, you could program your own Assign button with your own logic.
Your solution does work.
In my opinion, there is no other better solution.
