I wondering if it is possible in some way to update records of Accounts without the GUID? or how would you solve the following issue:
I have an Excel sheet with Accounts and new values for some fields in CRM that I need to import. We have done a lot of formulas and calculations in out excelsheet to calculate the new values that should be imported. I don't know how i should solve this since i always need to export a list with accounts first and the re-import it. I have tried to sort the accounts in alphabetical order but in some way our excellshet and the exported list from CRM does not sort in the same order, and also around 100 Accounts has been created efter we cretared the first list.
How would you do?
Thanks a lot for your help.
Best Regards, Emma
When you export they will always have the GUID and metadata in the first 3 hidden columns so it knows what records to update on re-import. Also don't understand how two sheets can sort differently if you are sorting on the same column as they are both Excel sheets? You could also trying to export to Excel Online and add your formulas there to update and save directly back to Dynamics.
Hello, mabye I was a little unclear.
1. My colleague exported a file with acocunt number and name, removed the Guid and did all calculations. the final excel is like this:
Account number Account Name Field X Filed Y Field Z
2. Now I need to import the information to three new fields that I created in CRM, field X, Y and Z for each account (the information is different for all Accounts)
My colleague have done a quite big job with all the calculations so we don't want to do it again if there is no other way. But I also tried to do some formulas in excel online but it is not working so good at all so that is not an option.
Open the view of Accounts (with the fields you want to update, create in Advance Find if necessary) in Excel Online and sort on the Account name, sort your exported sheet on the Account name, check the number of rows match and copy/paste the info in and save back. If the record numbers don't match because new accounts have been creted since the export then you will have to try and filter them so only show records for the date of export, if that's not possible you'll have to do it all again and NOT delete the hidden columns, if it's just formulas you've already done them so just apply them to the new sheet.
