Hey everyone! I'm newish to Dynamics and trying to deploy for my owner and things are going well, but I got hung up on this one. I have imported all the sales tax codes into Dynamics and assigned to companies. How can I make it so tax is auto-calculated on quotes?
I found some older info but it just assumes a standard one size fits all tax rate which is not what we have in California. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
May I know which D365 app are you using? Dynamics 365 Sales of CRM, or Finance of ERP?
Sales of CRM is what we are using.
I think we need more detail info
You only have one Tax or multiple Tax, depending on type of sale or market?
You want to calculate in all quote lines or only on total amount?
You can use different approaches: Business rules; calculated fields; PA (in more complex scenarios)
In my organization we have a complex scenario with different taxes accordance with the market, exemptions...and we have the calculation in every line of order (We assumed that in OPTY and Quote we don´t need this information)
We have a PA
1.Trigger: create/update - salesorder lines
2.Will see the type of sale and market on the salesorder (two custom fields - option sets)
3.update the field Tax with the crrect value of VAT
4.update a field tax value (€)
5. update total amount of the line
In this way you will have in the body of the salesorder the correct ammount:
Salesorder value Before tax
See if its help
Can you share an screenshot fo what you uploaded and where ?
So in each account under the FIELD SERVICE tab I was able to select a Tax Code. We have multiple tax codes based on different counties etc.
So in Dynamics 365 Sales, when we do a quote, you have to manually calculate tax on each quote line and then type it in. It seems like since we have the tax code on the account it should be able to use the fact that something is taxable or not to automatically calculate the tax on the item and put it in.
Account has the Tax Code:
Quote Line Item without tax auto calculated:
Once it is there it will be on the main quote correctly.
Thanks for all the help everyone! I'm newish to Dynamics so making a lot of tweaks but I don't know where to start on this one.

I don´t have a lot of experience in field Service, but I think what you want it´s not supported
Set up tax codes in Dynamics 365 Field Service and specify how much tax will be applied to your products, agreements, and services.
It seems to me that Tax codes that you put in field service will not be used in sales app, more specifically in quote lines
So hum... you have the information of tax codes in account...It´s a good start
You can use a PA to do that automatically, similar to my initial suggestion.
You need a step in PA that will get the information of the account and get the Tax value
Forgive me for being super new...I've had a lot of success with Flows and adding fields we need and editing forms and views, but not with Power Automate (I'm assuming is what you mean by PA)...can anyone provide a crash course in what this should look like on the Power Automate screen or something...I want to learn, I'm just very overwhelmed with this as I'm the only person in our company working on this and I got pushed to it because I've done SalesForce and ConnectWise implementations before.
Thank you again for all your help everyone! This is an awesome community and I hope to learn more!
