I want to create a lead directly from a contact by having an option of "New Lead" like seen in the photo below. You can do this from the account level but not the contact.
I know you can create it from the 3 buttons dropdown highlighted in yellow below, and go through the steps here, but I just want to know is it possible to have the "New lead" option within the contact also.
This is only something very small but would just be something we'd like to have. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
You just need to change the formatting and give some more space to grid - the plus button will appear.
I am using 42% in last column
It depends on your screen size and resolution, as well as the width of the sub-grid. The appearance of the "New Lead" button is determined by the combination of these three.
So the "New Lead" button may be displayed on a high-resolution screen, but not on a low-resolution or small screen.
You can see this effect by changing the zoom of the browser.
If we ignore the screen size and resolution, all we can do is change the width of the sub-grid.
Open the form editor, change properties of Summary tab, under Formatting tab, increase the Column 3 Width. The specific value needs you to test, because the value of different resolutions is different.
Thank you both for your responses. As I have made changes to the whole form and now only use 2 columns in the form, I have increased the width to 50% but this still hasn't worked. All that has occurred is the "Add existing lead" option has come out onto the tab, as oppose to being part of the 3 button dropdown. I tried increasing to 60% but it still didn't work.
Are you getting 'New Lead' option when you click the 3 dots?
Does the role have Create privilege on lead? Seems like you only have Append privilege...please check that.
This is because the relationship of this sub-grid is N:N instead of 1:N, so there is only "Add existing lead" option.
As the highlight in the screenshot shows, there are three Lead entity options when creating a sub-grid. Lead without parentheses represents an N:N relationship, while Lead with parentheses represents a 1:N relationship. The field in parentheses is the lookup field.
This is all the buttons of the sub-grid of the N:N relationship.
This is all the buttons of the sub-grid of the 1:N relationship.
We can see that the sub-grid of the N:N relationship does not have the "New Lead" option.
So you should change the entity of your sub-grid to the Lead entity of 1:N relationship.
Ok, problem solved. Thanks for your help!
