May I ask why is it not required to close the Sales Opportunity when creating of Sales Order?
Let's assume this scenario where the products in Quote are part of Opportunity's products but not all, that is, an Opportunity is quoted by several Quotes. So if an Opportunity must be closed when an Order is created from a certain Quote, then the business of other Quotes of this Opportunity will be affected thus causing some confusion.
D365 also prevents users from close Opportunity with Quotes that are still open. Here is an Opportunity, it has a Draft Quote, so if I am going to close this Opportunity, I will see an error.
If there is only one Quote in an Opportunity, when you create an Order from this Quote, D365 provides the option to close Opportunity.
