I have developed a canvas app based on a custom entity in CDS environment which is connected with Dynamics 365 for Talent. I have embedded the canvas app to the Position master form in Dynamics 365 for Talent. The app currently shows a list of records for position details. I need to filter the list in the app so that it shows only related record based on the position record selected in Talent.
Is there a way to pass Talent current record details to the embedded canvas app and then receive that record inside the app to apply filter on the datasource? Please advise. Thanks!
Just figured it out. While embedding the app in Talent, you'll have an option to pass any field value. Once that is done, you need to use the following script on the onStart event of the application node. The "EntityId" standard parameter stores the value passed in from the parent application which is Talent in this case. The same trick applies to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.
If(!IsBlank(Param("EntityId")), Set(PositionId, Param("EntityId")), Set(PositionId, ""));
Thanks for following up with your solution!
