In an HR environment I am setting up for a customer, they want line managers to be able to log-in to manage their staff in HR. They want managers to be able to create annual leave requests on behalf of their team, and be able to view all the personal information for their team, but no one else.
Has anyone had any experience of assigning security roles to line managers in HR so that they can manage their own staff and themselves but no one else? Cannot find a good fit in any of the out of the box roles, so before I dive into duties and privileges, I was just wondering if anyone else had been down this path before?
A manager role should be able to see the direct reports already. If your question is about what to do to enable the manager to see private details of his direct reports, then you can go to the Global Address Book parameters and add the role of the manager to the private location security > selected roles.
The OOB role 'manager' and 'employee' can only view information for their staffs (direct report to) and themselves in ESS workspace. Did you check that?
Hello André, thank you for your response. Having read it I realised that my hierarchy wasn't set up correctly hence I was not seeing any direct reports / team when looking at the screen with the Manager security role set. I can see them now. I will have a look at the global address book parameters that you have suggested also.
As I have said to André, thank you for your response. It was a setup issue that was causing it, and having made that change, the roles that you have suggested work perfectly.
Thank you for you help.
