When defining accounts it can be helpful to define a template containing certain settings which may be used when creating new accounts.

 Settings such as the f/x adjustment revaluation and/or posting validations will be applied this way.

Templates are defined under General Ledger / Setup / Chart of accounts / Main account templates.

Another good use is when you want to make mass changes (e.g. you forgot to set the monetary check box on your balance sheet accounts) – if you select these fields in the template retroactively AX2012 asks whether it should update all accounts associated with this template.
