A service item prior to AX2012 was the only way to implement a process where you wanted to purchase and sell an item/service but didn’t want to track inventory. In a previous post I covered a new way to sell in AX2012 which is with a category. If you have needs for the extra process with the service item for example with sub-contracted manufacturing this is a quick walk through of setting up a service item.
