I have created a Listpage with all of the needed requirements. When I add a new item using a create new item form, that I get to by clicking the new button that is on the list page, when I close the form the parent grid on the list page does not refresh. How to I get the grid to refresh since the list page does not allow any override methods. I have a Interaction class, but I don't know what kind of method to use that will refresh the grid.
Good question Jane.. The key here is to not call refresh on the fom methods -- instead call the reread and the refresh methods on the form datasource. If you do a search within the AOT, by clicking on the forms node and hitting find, you'll find plenty of cases on how to use the "reread" and "refresh" functionality.
You will usually go to your class run method. At the very end, you'll put two lines of code like this:
Anyway, if you search the AOT, you will be fine on this one.
You need not write the code on the List Page rather you must write at on the child form. The form in which you get the new records. In this case since you are creating a new record you need to do an execute query. You may want to do something like this
callerRecord = element.args.record();
fds = callerrecord.formdatasource();
You can refer to ProdTableCreate Form which is a good example see the ProdTablecreate/Datasource/Prodtable/write method.
On a general note all the ListPage forms have a poor refresh implementation. From a Sales order or Purchase order list page if you create a new record it opens the Task form and doesn't refresh the List Page. In most of the list pages if you edit the record in child form you need to do a manual refresh (F5) on the parent List page to see the changes. But for edit purpose if you are planning to refresh the record you must use Refresh and Reread in the same way as above.
