Is it possible to import an Excel file into item counting? I do my item counting with a android app which saves it to Excel.
I have EAN and Quantity from this Excel file.
I have tried the Excel template wizard but i cant fint the right object name.
For which AX version ?
If AX 2012 :
1- You can use DIEF technet.microso7ft.com/.../jj225591.aspx
2- Directly from Excel using l'Excel Add-in and AIF Web Service.
Look at ax2012exceldataimport.blogspot.it/.../dynamics-ax-2012-excel-add-in-add-data.html
If AX 2009, you can use the Data\Import export standard feature. You have to also write some codes into Import process.
Thank you for your answed - I really appreciate it.
Im really a newbie at this - could you point me in the right direction?
I use 2009
With code you mean X++ and with with Data\Import export standard , can i use Excel template wizard or where do i start?
With the excel wizard start with a journal, then use the wizard to export it, you will then see the format and the wizard allows the creation of an import routine at the same time.
You have already the Excel file, so is not required to create another with the Wizard.
So, in my opinion you have to :
1- Create an Import Definition Group from menu Administrator\Periodic\Data Export/Import\Definition Groups
2- Choose Excel Type
3- From "Include table groups" tab remove all select options
4- After press ok, choose Table Setup
5- As name of Table choose InventJournalTrans table
6- Set the filename
7- Now your Excel don't contain JournalId, so you have two solutions :
a) Add the Lines on the first open Counting Journal that you have to create manually. So, In the Import criteria Tab you have to write codes for initialize JournalId, like :
inventJournalTrans.JournalId = (Select journalId from inventJournalTable where !inventJournalTable.posted).journalId;
b) At the first line, create yourself the Journal header like calling a new method on inventJournalTable table and for each line set the open JournalId using the query above.
I hope is clear.
Please feel free to ask me something more.
A couple of q...
Can i do this without any X++ code if i do it with the Import Template Wizard and use the excelfile created?
I tried to do what you described but get "no data imported".
I did 1-6 you described without any problems...
Im not sure about step7 what you mean there... could you explain in more detail?
Are you talking about the excel-sheet or the import routine?
Ok, i manager another step - i created a new excelfile with the Template Wizard.
I insert my info (JournaID, Line Nr, EAN and Counted) and press Import.
Import status: import
No code in Conversion or Import Criteria
Preview: shows first line correct.
Import rule: Insert only new records
AX tells me i have imported 2 items (which i correct)
I open Inventory Journal, press lines but:
Where are my imported lines? Its not there...
Do i have to fill in all cells in the excel template file? (Date, Vouchers(What is this?), Item number)
I'm pretty sure that the records exist on the Table. Go to AOT and Open the table.
On form you don't see nothing because is missing the Inventdimid field, there is a Join between InventJournalTrans and InventDim table.
I mean are missing the Stock Dimensions ( Warehouse, Site, etc. ) related to the Items.
So, add also the InventDimID excel column and initialize it with an valid InventDimID.
If the Items have the same Stock Dimensions you can use a fixed InventDimID value, otherwise you have to write some x++ codes on Import Criteria tab where from for e.g. warehouse retrieve the right InventDimID, like :
InventJournalTrans.inventDimId = InventDim::findOrCreate(....
Thank you Denis!
I got everyhing working - thank you!
