I'm a newbie but was wandering how to set the sales tax for Walk-in customer that may also be rural customer. Sales tax is based on point of possession. If they walk in to the store they pay South Dakota tax. If we deliver the product to their residence in Iowa they would pay Iowa tax. I set the Walk-in tax to SD Tax but how can we change the tax rate in the POS system to Iowa Tax instead of the Walk-in Tax(SD tax)when entering the invoice. If the Walk-in is selected in the file | Configuration | Sales Tax it should default to it first then the salesperson(Cashier) should be able to override that and change it to the appropriate tax.
On RMS 2.0
Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide.
Setting up sales tax in the US can easily get a lengthly and complex process.
If you need to setup sales taxes for a liminted number of states/counties/districts, you can have a look at the following TechNet site: technet.microsoft.com/.../aa550046.aspx
Some general information on the sales tax setup can be found here: technet.microsoft.com/.../gg231517.aspx
If your company is operating in many states across the US and thus need to setup numerous sales tax codes it might be smart using a Dynamics AX add-on from a third party vendor as the maintenance of thousands of sales tax codes&rates cannot be handled manually unless you have some specialized tax people who are able to do that.
Hope it helps,
Thank you for the response, unfortunately we are using Dynamic Retail Management (RMS) 2.0 which is completely different from AX programs. It would be nice if at the POS the cashier would be able to select Walk-in or Delivery which would solve this issue.
Again, Thank you
