"The operation could not be completed because the item no longer exists."
I am receiving this error message on a number of my report definitions, row definitions and now even one of my report groups. Our AX implementation partner have been unable to assist and are waiting for Microsoft to come up with a fix in the future. Is anyone else having this problem and maybe has other information to share on a potential fix please? Or at least, is there anything I can do to prevent further items from ceasing to exist.
I am having to manually rebuild my critical items and now in the middle of year end, my most critical report group "no longer exists" as well as the original report definition.
I am using Dynamics AX 2012 and Management Reporter 2012.
Shirley, I would not go through the effort of rebuilding those reports. I would push your technical staff to identify the most recent backup where all your report definitions existed and restore that backup (of the MR tables only).
Did you ever resolve this? We are having the same issue with our Management Reporter reports. I found it is due to old checkouts that are holding onto the reports but haven't been able to resolve.
We recently completed an update to MR cumulative update 14 and the reports have returned but as you've said, they now come up as checked out by a user but we are unable to uncheck them. I have a ticket raised with our support partner and am awaiting their response. I will let you know if we have any success.
I take comfort that we can at least open the reports as read-only now which means that we can "Save As" under a new name if we do need to make changes.
We escalated this to Microsoft and they acknowledged this as a bug. They said it is fixed in CU15 but they provided two hotfixes and a SQL job to clean up the old checkouts. Will let you know when it is fully tested and provide the details.
Microsoft provided us with the following script to run against the MR database and it cleared out the invalid checkouts for the reports:
SET CheckedOutTo = NULL, CheckedOutDate = NULL
WHERE not CheckedOutTo is null or not CheckedOutDate is null
Make sure to test in a test DB first and backup before making your change in your production instance.
They also provided hotfixes 3757498 and 3780433 that were deployed in Management Reporter CU15.

I searched on hotfix site but didn't found.
They were provided to us by Microsoft, I would recommend logging a ticket with them to get the hotfixes. Sometimes they retire or combine KBs and the original is no longer valid.
I am facing same item no longer exists issue today. After using the script provided by DAX_ajsqd2, i can open related row definition without the error.
I think SSID changing will cause this error as i remember i have removed my user account from security admin group and re-add to the group again during open the report that i got this error.

It was over two years ago we received the hotfixes so I don't have them. I would reach out to MS to see if they can provide you with the fixes or upgrade your environment to CU15.
