We are analyzing the possibility to implement Production Control module in a customer. They are specially interested in the scheduling functionality.
They have approximately 20 production orders that explode in 500 jobs / operations everyday. Their main issue is that they need flexibility to analyze "what if" situations. For example, a machine stops working and they need to re-schedule all production orders related to that machine and check lead time variances.
Do you consider AX2012R3 or D365FO can handle such situations? Do they have the flexibility requiered? I have an intermediate knowledge of Production Control module and experience on implementing simple scenarios, however I would like an advice of an expert. I know AX2012R3 has resources calendars and posibility to re-schedule production orders, however I don't know how well it could work on this complex situtations and how easy is it to handle them.
Any coment will be welcome.
The flexibility you are looking for is definitely not possible through Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 Production scheduling capabilities.
In the similar situation one of my previous client had considered below third party solutions which can offer the requisite flexibility:
Both of these 3rd party scheduling tools have integration capabilities with AX.
Thanks a lot Ganesh, your comment is very useful.
I agree with Ganesh. Preactor is another I have worked with.
Can you please update the question status to verified.
Hi Ganesh, I don't know what I am doing wrong, but I cann't find the "Suggested answer Yes" button or where to change the question status.
I tried yesterday and today again but I'm not being able to do that.
You might have created this thread as a discussion instead of question.
That is why you are unable to update the status as it pertains only to questions.
I've found your old post reg. production planning in D365. Finally, what you choose for scheduling? If outer solution, how you integrated it with AX or D365?
