It could be that the object you're trying to remove is part of a field group on a datasource. If that's the case, you have two options. The first is to edit the field group on the table, realizing that any use of the field group would also recieve this change, not just on the form you're working with. The other option would be to edit the group properties on the form and remove the field group parameter. This should allow you to edit (and remove) the objects inside the group without having them automatically regenerated.
Seems more like you are not allowed to delete some elements defined in a lower layer. Try opening the form CustGroup (sys layer) and open the design and go to the grid if you try to delete the grid nothing happens (it ask you OK/cancel - but nothing happens when pressing OK)
If I remove the data group it lets me remove the fields but when I then delete the grid it returns all the fields instead :-(
