I'm just in the implementation of Micorsoft Dynamics AX in the company.
In UAT we tried to run the master planning but it takes a long time, like 5 hours. I need to be able to run this Master Planning in 2 hours.
Can you please tell me how long it takes to you to run it? and if you know how I can decrese the process time?
We have +140 stores and +4000 items.
You need to use Scheduling helpers and Item distribution factors (AX2009).
Path is: Master planning > Periodic > Master scheduling > Scheduling helpers tab. Number of helpers = 8 and Item distribution factor = 20 works for us. You should experiment to see what works best for you.
You also must be using Batch processing for the Scheduling helpers to work. Path is: Master scheduling > Batch tab. Check Batch processing check box and assign the Batch goup you want to run it.
It worked wonders for us - from 9 hours to less than an hour (15 levels, very deep product structure). Use Master planning > Setup > Plans > Master plans > Session log button, General tab to confirm Helpers used.
Also go to axug for a very useful white paper foro additional explanations:
