could someone guide me in solving this problem? I try to install business intelligence components \ analysis services but during validation it reports errors because prerequisites are not met for Microsoft SQL Analysis services. Reporting installed without any problems.
I am installing AX 2012 CU3 on top of a dedicated SQL 2008 R2 x64 SP2 box. Already tried to run: mofcomp.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof"
but still a nogo.
the error in the logfile is:

2012-08-02 16:16:34Z Note: When you use the standalone prerequisite utility, prerequisite checks are run on the current computer only. If you are checking prerequisites for the business intelligence components of Microsoft Dynamics AX, and Analysis Services and Reporting Services are installed on separate computers, the Reporting Services checks will fail on the Analysis Services computer and vice versa. Make sure that you run the prerequisite utility on each computer to make sure that the appropriate prerequisites pass.

Thanks in advance, regards
I'm facing the same issue. Although I've already installed SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 with CU4, AX 2012 validation always show error.
Have you found any solutions?
I have a similar issue.
I had SQL 2012 installed and I uninstalled it and installed SQL 2008R2 instead, with all features(including RS and AS). AX 2012 FP setup however didn't let me through when I wanted to install Analysis services extension, and provided same error.
Please help, this has also happened to one of my co-workers.
Tomislav, I have fixed it by completely rebuilding the environment. Luckily it was a virtual machine. But that was the trick. Removing SQL 2012 and installing SSQL 2008 R2 did not work. Tried a lot of configurations but nothing helped.
So sorry, if you want a quick fix. Reinstall the OS and start all over!
I would leave that as a last option, it took me 3 days already tu build my environment. Is there a way I can "fool" the installer, it could be that old SQL 2012 installation left some "garbage" in the registry which is causing the prerequisite tool to fail.
The analysis services component of the dynamics ax installer doesn't do anything you can't manually do yourself. I'd just skip the install step for that one and make the changes manually.
What the analysis extensions setup does is
A) Creates a record for the Analysis Server form indicating which ssas server to install to.
You can create the record yourself in the Analysis Server form. You'll find it under the Tools->Business Intelligence tools menu
B) Creates a log on in for your dynamics sql database to allow the account under which ssas is running to have read access to the dynamics sql database. This is necessary for ssas to process the analysis services cubes.
You can check which account ssas is runinng under by looking for your ssas instance in the services control panel. Right click the services and choose properties. The Log on tab will show you what account it is running under.
Create a login for this account in the sql server, and for your sql database, make this logon a member of the dbreader role. If your ssas services is running as network service, the account to specify in the login will take the format DomainName\MachineName$ where DomainName is the domain your ssas server is in and MachineName is the name of the ssas server.
Hope this helps
You can use WMITool to delete root\Microsoft\SqlSever\ComputerManagement11 namespace. Then no error when validation.
I have installed and uninstalled the sql 2016. AFter installing sql 2014 AX and SSRS working fine. but in analysis server its saying not supported version. could you help me how to use WMITool to delete the computer management13 namespace.
I know it is late but just in case someone out there struggle with same issue.
Actually Lance is correct.
I have tried his method.
Mine is AX 2012 R3 CU12, SSAS 2016 version.
Can't go through validation on the installation, but i setup the SSAS server name under Tools>Business Intelligent tools>Analysis server then enter the SSAS server_name\instance_name.I have managed to create the SSAS project and now start deploying.
Lance thank you so much.By the way i have question for you.
I dont understand what is the purpose of having installer if we can by-pass that. And also in the system requirement document, it doesn't mention about compatibility between SSAS 2016 and AX 2012 CU3.Now since i am still in UAT stage i will try to use SSAS 2016 and cross finger we dont need to install different version SSAS 2012 for this purpose.
