Previewing New CRM Navigation for Microsoft Dynamics
The Microsoft Dynamics CRM navigation menu is changing!
During Convergence 2015, Microsoft unveiled a refreshed navigation for Dynamics CRM with the release of CRM 2015 Update 1 in Q2 2015.
Also, for the first time database administrators can personalize the colour scheme of their database!
In CRM 2015 Microsoft added global search and advanced find to the navigation bar.
Now, CRM 2015 Update 1 (Spring 15) features more enhancements:
To highlight 5 of these updates:
CRM Navigation Controls
Since CRM 2013 was released users have needed to scroll through menus before selecting a tile.
If numerous options exist within a menu group this could prove a laborious process.
That's especially so in the marketing section if Dynamics CRM is integrated with a marketing automation platform such as dotmailer or Click Dimensions which involves adding many extra entities to the CRM menu.
In CRM 2015 Update 1 the user interface is made easier to navigate as the individual tiles are shrunk so they now appear in a single drop down panel arranged in categories.
That's sure to improve the user experience and prove a time-saving enhancement!
Area Switch Module
A new 'hamburger' style icon replaces the current Microsoft Dynamics CRM logo to switch between the main navigation sections, e.g. workspace, sales & settings.
The major benefit of this update means that users can switch between these sections in a single click without having to wait for the page to reload!
Most Recently Used Items
Last seen in CRM 2011, a Most Recently Used icon is added to the navigation menu in Update 1 (Spring 15).
Users can pin frequently accessed CRM records and views and click this button to open the list which also features recently viewed records.
CRM Themes
Update 1 for CRM 2015 adds a new option for administrators to customize their database color scheme.
This includes replacing the Microsoft Dynamics CRM text with your logo and creating bespoke CRM themes:
New logos can be uploaded that are sized roughly 400px x 50px.
A customised logo can be uploaded as part of a bespoke CRM theme to define colours for the navigation bar, header, mouse hove, selected links and more items.
CRM themes are not designed to dramatically alter the CRM user interface but these new options give organisations greater scope to personalise their database and bring it in line with their own branding.
New themes can be built from scratch or adapt a sample record. Individual themes can be previewed before publishing.
