NAV: How to Set Up an Indicator Cue in Colour

What exactly is a cue and how does it help you? You may not be aware of this, but every time you login to Dynamics NAV the first thing that you see in your Role Centre is a cue. In the latest NAV release users can setup coloured indicators in their cues that looks like this:

A cue provides a visual representation of your business data (ex. open sales orders, open sales quotes etc.) and it is designed to give users a quick status update of their daily activities. Having a colour indicator on your cue quickly tells you the conditions of your activity (ex. favourable, unfavourable). This signals the user to take prompt action.

There are two ways to setup colour indicators on cues, but here we will only focus on the Role Centre. To setup the colour indicators, follow the steps:

Go to your Role Centre > setup cues
NAV cue

Once you get to the setup window, define the data fields that you need based on your requirements.
