Did you know that Microsoft Dynamics GP can allow you to simplify your chart of accounts while maintaining or even increasing the level of detail for analysis?
Microsoft Dynamics GP offers two different solutions for tracking very detailed information regarding transactions. Best of all, it can do so without creating a chart of accounts that never ends. Using either Multidimensional Analysis or Analytical Accounting, you can add levels of detail for transaction analysis and reporting without creating separate general ledger accounts to track costs for those details. You can also set it up to track quantities, along with costs, if you want.
Suppose for instance that your business rents vehicles, and you want to be able to track revenue and costs for each vehicle, but you don’t want your chart of accounts to explode by creating a general ledger account for each vehicle. Using Multidimensional Analysis, you would create Analysis Codes for each vehicle. When transactions are entered, the code for the appropriate vehicle is attached. You can then run a report that is filtered for a specific vehicle and see all revenue and expense related to that vehicle on one simple report.
Multidimensional Analysis and Analytical Accounting are similar, but each has its own features and benefits, which you can learn more about by contacting Avastone Technologies.
