As previously announced, the first cumulative update is now available for download. When you upgrade on-premises deployments to this update, we encourage you and your customers to pull a new license that convers more scenarios than the one for the original release in October 2018.
In cumulative update 1 (CU 1), we have enabled new licensing scenarios so that Business Central is optimized for licenses with named users rather than concurrent users. Named users was not fully supported in the RTM version that was made available on October 1, 2018, and that is why we’re enabling the new license type for CU 1. You can pull new licenses when you upgrade customers to CU 1.
Cumulative update 1 and later versions of Business Central can use both the new licenses and the original license from the October 1 release. Starting from November 20, 2018, all new licenses are of the new type and are not backwards compatible with earlier versions of Business Central.
With CU 1, the new licenses include new product IDs specifically for named users in Business Central.
Additionally, the new licenses also support the ID ranges that you can request for developing in the 70,000,000-74,999,999 range. For more information, see the Dynamics 365 Business Central Licensing Guide.
Hi Eva. Thanks for the information. When applying this CU1 are both the platform and application required to be updated for the BC licenses to work?
does it mean, that customers on-prem can download and use Apps from AppSource after CU 1 ?
Unfortunately, it seems that I can't respond directly to your question, but here goes: According to our licensing team, this object ID range is for development, but partners can now register solutions in this range and add them to customer licenses following the CU1 release.
