I have enabled the Item approval workflow. The scenario is:
*I create a new Item card. I did not send the new item card for approval, but use it in the PO and SO transaction and post it. The expectation is that the system will restrict the transaction from posting (due to the item workflow is enable). Is there any way to restrict the transaction from posting if there is a new created ITEM CARD being use? Below is the standard item workflow that I have been use.
If the condition in the approval of an item is requested is "Always", I assume that all new items that will be use will send for approval.
Below is the responses available:
Base on my testing, it will only restrict the transaction from posting if the newly created Item was send for approval. But what if the user forgot to send it for approval?
You will need to develop an extension to block it from entering the order.
One way you can do this without extension is by using Item Template and put the Blocked to Yes on the template. When the user created the item, the Blocked is automatically set to Yes. When the record is approved, the Blocked is set to No. However, there is no standard method to prevent user from unchecking the Blocked field manually...
Hi Teddy, Thank you for the response. How can I add the blocked field in the template? It is not available on the Item template page.
BC is a bit weird. You can only do this while the template is still blank (while creating the record). You will not be able to modify the parameter after creating the template.
