For Business Rules, there are various actions a Business Rule can do.
In this post, we will go over all of them so you can use Business Rules in Microsoft Dynamics 365/CRM in the most optimal ways to your CRM environment.
This allows you to show a Recommendation message that performs one or more actions. With a Recommendation, Microsoft Dynamics 365/CRM Users can choose to apply the Recommendation or dismiss it.
Users can still edit the fields changed by the Recommendation even after the Recommendation is applied.
With Lock/Unlock, Microsoft Dynamics 365/CRM Users can make a field read-only or allow the field to be editable.
This is a simple action that poses a huge benefit to Users to increase daily efficiencies in their work.
3. Show Error Message
This is a Microsoft Dynamics 365/CRM user-favorite action at Ledgeview Partners!
With Show Error Message, you can display an error message, set the field where the red “X” is, and the message will appear.
The message will also appear at the bottom of the Save button if you try to save.
Microsoft Dynamics 365/CRM Users will be unable to save until the condition(s) showing the error message are no longer met.
You can use this action for many different processes.
4. Set Field Value
With this action, you are able to set the value of a particular field.
With Set Field Value, Microsoft Dynamics 365/CRM users can clear the data in the field, set the field to match another field, set the field to a particular value, and utilize a simple formula to set the field value.
There are some limits to what field types and values you can set, but this is a pretty powerful action.
5. Set Default Value
If no value is inputted into your field, you are setting the value.
With Set Default Value, you can set the field to match another field, set the field to a particular value, and utilize a simple formula to set the field value.
It is very similar to using the action Set Field Value.
6. Set Business Required
With this action, you can simply make the field either required or not required.
7. Set Visibility
This is another simple action where you can opt to either show or hide the field.
