I have a SiteMap SubArea that points to a URL (instead of a custom entity). I assigned an Icon (18x18 Pixels, .png file as specified in the SDK for the new Navigation tiles) as a Web Resource.
When I navigate to this custom SubArea, the Icon I specified does not display.
I've seen this issue with other ISV's that assign a URL to their SubArea. The Icon doesn't display for them either, so I'm sure this is a bug. I have 7 custom SubAreas in my custom Area tile. Without the icons, it's 7 blank, gray tiles. Hardly appealing of the customer.
Has anyone discovered a work around for this issue?
Daniel, We have a 2013 online setup - I can try if you could share the steps to configure as I am a newbie.
I've tried on a fully upgraded 2013 online version. Still no luck.
I had to actually update the Custom Entity in the solution and use the "Update Icons" feature of the entity. I choose a 32x32 image and it updated it on the Sub Areas.
@msugirin sure this works for custom entity. The problem in initial post; isn't showing the icon for SubAreas that point to an URL. If you have this working for a URL please share more details on how you did it. Thanks!!
As a work-around, try removing any path naming from your web resource image name. i.e. instead of $webresource:new_/Images/MyImage.png try using $webresource:new_MyImage.png.
If you use the F12 tools in IE, you will see that you get a '404' not-found on any Icon image that contains a path in its name for URL SubAreas. The 'missing' image simply has the path truncated from its name.
I'll add my two cents - it's a problem for me too.
Same problem here. In CRM 2015 the problem still exists.
Why isn't Microsoft interested in solving these bug?
Actually, for us this is fixed in CRM2015!
We are using CRM 2015 Update 0.1 on-premise and there the bug still exists.
In the text section of the Icon attribute, instead of using the $webresource directive, I put this instead:
Icon="/WebResources/[publisher prefix][name of file without any virtual folders]
For the image itself, I load it in the web resources of the solution with just the name "customIcon.png".
That worked for me. I hope that helps!
Thanks for the tip. In my case, this didn't solve the problem. I still can't see the icon and the crm loads the image with the path "/_imgs/NavBar/Invisble.gif?ver=......"
Any idea why?
I just edited a typo in my post. Instead of Icon="WebResource/... what I used was Icon="/WebResources/... maybe you can try that?
I'm on CRM 2015 Update 0.1 - is this issue still not resolved?
On CRM 2015 OnPremise, Update 0.1 and Update 0.2 the issue still exists.
On CRM 2016 OnPremise, Update 0.1 the bug is fixed.
