I need to create a chart on a dashboard that provides a count of accounts by asset size but I want the asset size to be grouped into buckets, i.e. less than x, between x&y, greater than y. How can I group the accounts by asset size buckets, is there a way to do this OOTB without using code?
Add an option set field to the Account, called Asset Size Group. Make the option set values: "less than x, between x&y, greater than y". Create 3 advanced finds using the criteria Asset Size="less than x, between x&y, greater than y" and use bulk edit to update the values in the new Asset Size Group field. Then create an Account chart with the Asset Size Group field on the horizontal axis and the Asset Size field on the vertical axis.
I was afraid that was the answer. =) Thanks so much.
On a side note, do you know the criteria behind the Neglected Accounts report? I need to create the same report but filtered by an account field. I tried creating a new report but something isn't set up correctly. i.e. which record type should be primary / secondary, how to define the groupings, what to summarize to display the chart, etc.
