Activities show as "Today" when they were emails sent months ago, or actions completed in the past. Any ideas on why this is happening?
The activities feed displays the time stamp based on the Modified On field value, not the "Sent", "Received", "Start Date", or "End Date". It is non-configurable.
Unfortunately, if you set up e-mail sync or perform data migration, it will list the activities in the order of import/creation within the CRM Database.
There is no work around that I am aware of. There is a request to allow modification/customization of the Activities Pane on Connect located here: connect.microsoft.com/.../enable-customization-of-the-social-pane-activities-command-bar-sub-ribbon
Emails in the Social pane are considered as Activities in CRM.
Activity in CRM will show created on or modified (time when email was created in CRM will be the created on and same as for the modifiedon (you cannot modify the email record incoming sent by another user).
So any email comes to CRM, either through automatic incoming email or tracked through Outlook in Activities Pane will show only the time once the email came in and created in CRM, not the actual date.
So, assuming your email router got problem and today you got email in your mailbox, but not in your CRM since your email router did not work, then tomorrow when your email router would work, then it would be shown as tomorrow date, not today date (the time when your email was created in the CRM, not the time when your email was sent to your mailbox)
The actual email date will be saved as actual end in CRM Activity view:
You can see this :
So, you cannot modify the social pane, you can actually show it in the new subgrid that can show the Activity View (another new subgrid, not in the social pane)
Joe, thank you for the info, very helpful. Unfortunately I do not have access to the page the link you provided is pointing to.
Thank you Aileen.
I have some questions regarding this post.
- Is there any MSDN / TechNet blog or article that confirm this feature?.
- Is there any workaround solution that someone has come across?
