I am developing XMLfetch based report using BIDS , I have amount field on my Custom entity called Budget. I want to get sum of amount for all Budget. However we have Dollar as our Base currency and data in amount field is in Euro . Now problem is arrising whenever i am doing calculation on Amount Base Field It is giving correct result in My Report Vs manual query executed in SQL CRMDB .But whenever i am trying to get sum for normal amount field i am getting diffrent result Vs manual query executed using SQL CRM DB.
Why I am getting different values for query executed in report Vs query executed using SQL CRMDB for normal amount field only. and why it is showing correct result for sum calculation done with Base amount field? As i have to use normal amount field for calculation only to show result in Euro?
As CRM supports multiple currency , each Money field that you add it to the entity always creates 2 fields. One to store Organization Base currency value and other one for User Currency value. For example Say your organization base currency is USD and you set your currency preference as EURO , when you create a record, by default you will see Euro as currency in the form but CRM internally converts the value you entered in Euro to USD based on the Exchange rate specified in the system at that time. If you run fetchxml to calculate Sum you will receive result in Euro as you set your currency as Euro , but say someone else did not set any currency preference and tries to run same report he will get sum in USD ( Organization Base currency).
If you do query using manual query or report, it will give different result.
When you do the Manual Query in, for example:
Select totalamount from OpportunityBase
select totalamount from Opportunity
Select totalamount from filteredOpportunity
They are different, because if you use filteredview and you run the report under CRM, it will give you the result based on the User currency.
See this detail:
The CRM stored the Base Value to make it as universal value.
So, if you do query through manual query or report using Amount Base
It will give you that universal value.
So, whatever method you use if you query against this Base, it will give you the same result.
But, if you use the normal amount of currency field, it will give you the result based on what currency you use..
It is similar concept if you run the report for datetime..
I create a record and I run the report in China, it will show different result if I do that in USA or Greenwich (UK)..
Every time user create a record, has createdon value, the CRM will store the createdon based on the Universal Time (GMT + 0)
But, if I use the manual query, without filteredview, so it will show the Universal time, if you run query through CRM report with proper filteredview, then it will give you the different time depends on the regional format.
Hope this helps.
True. Calculation for normal amount amount field based on as user currency preference.
