I want to show all orderproducts of orders related to a contact on the contact form.
The following steps did not lead me to the results wanted.
What am I doing wrong here?
I found that your steps are correct just need you to aware about new record, see my response below.
I have tried and I can see the related Order Product in the Contact.
To make sure, can you help me to verify:
1. Check your Potential Customer in the Order is should be a Contact, not Account
2. Put a Contact field in the Order Product Form to make sure that you have successfully mapping the Customer Id (Contact) from Order header to the Contact in the Order Product
3. Then, you might be aware that the mapping (you have created in the step 2 in your post) is only affecting for a New Record created from Order Product subgrid in the Order, for existing record (created before you create a mapping in your step 2) will not be affected, it means the existing record of Order Product will not have the Contact value (refer to my above picture) and so that you cannot see those Order Product in the Contact.
To handle this issue, you need to do bulk update either through custom code workflow or you can use Import Wizard to fix the Contact field value in the Order Product.
Hope this can help you!
You should probably also use a view that filters only for open Orders, or Fulfilled ones (depending on what you are trying to achieve here). But not cancelled, for example.
Thank you for your response.I am aware that this change will only take affect on new orders.
Unfortunately, the contact field is not filled when adding a new product to the order.
When I click the plus sign in the order page to add a product (and choose either existing or Write-in product, the order product page does not pop up. It shows me a row with the well known magnifying glass. After selecting my product, I am able to navigate to the order product page, but the contact field is empty.
My Relation between Order Product and contact looks like this:
And the mapping from Order to OrderProduct:
Still don't know what's wrong...
So your problem is the number 2 in my previous answer.
In the Order, your potential customer is a Contact, not an Account, right? Just to checking.
Yes, the potential customer is a contact:
The problem here is because you are using the inline editable subgrid..
For the Order Product.
I tried before, and I see many people also encounter this problem either in the Quote to Quote product or Order to Order product and as well Opportunity and Invoice.
Apparently, I learned something, a behavior, if you use Editable subgrid, you will not be able to make the mapping working.
To make it works, you need to replace your editable subgrid to the standard subgrid, so the mapping will work well (I use a pop form to key in the Order Product, not using the lookup field like you did in the screenshot, actually, so that it worked, I can see the Contact field is filled and I can see the subgrid.).
This is not only for some fields, but for other fields that you have defined in the mapping in the relationship mapping.
So, I have submitted this issue for you to Microsoft.
Kindly, I hope this answer can help you
Thank you, Marcel.
Thank you Aileen,
Do you have an example of how you worked it out?We do not want to wait for MS to fix this issue.
Tanks in advance.
Replacing the subgrid with the standard subgrid.
Create a new subgrid and hide this editable subgrid.
Check here, I have posted here.
I hope this can help you, Marcel.
