I have a couple of custom datetime fields on the main form for the Contact entity. The controls work as expected when creating a record. If, however, the field is not populated during Create, later attempts to update it are unsuccessful -- although save and close appears to work properly, the field remains with a NULL value. Clicking Save simply returns the field to the NULL that I started with. This is driving me nuts, as this is a field used by the CSRs to record the last date the contact information was verified. Has anyone else encountered this or can anyone suggest a way to get these fields to update?
I've tried ForceSubmit in the onChange Event to no avail. I can't see anywhere where this field is particularly protected. There isn't any special code in the onLoad or onSave event. It is as if once the fields are NULL, they are NULL forever, which makes them useless for my purposes.
With the help of tech support, we discovered that the Contact records with no custom field data were being created with no corresponding ContactExtensionBase records. I updated the data in the ContactExtensionBase, and the custom fields all update normally now.
