I have two related custom entities "A" (Parent) and "B" (Child) with 1 to N relationship. The lookup field is ID.
I have another custom entity "C" for users to fill the said ID and other details.
Am building a Workflow to perform the following:
Step 1. If "C" ID is not found in "A", create a new record "A" with the new ID (no problem).
Step 2. Add record "B" with fields values collected from "C". But How to specify that the "B" ID is to be taken from "C". The Step's Form Assistant only allows me to pick an ID value from "A"
Could you please describe the entity relationship? What you wrote is not clear.
You cannot grab the ID from child record.
Seems like you might need custom workflow activity.
You need to write custom workflow activity for this.
Could you please advise on what should be done in the custom workflow activity when I add "B" record.
Not in details but high level will do.
Hi Aileen, I am thinking of the following. Will this work?
1. Add a step for my custom workflow activity:
The custom workflow activity accepts ID from "C" as an input.
Retrieve the Guid (id field?) of "A" with the said input ID.
Return the value of Guid of "A"
2. Next Step to create "B"
On Form Assistance, i will select the returned Guid of "A" from the custom workflow activity and use it to set the property value of the lookup field?
