I'm trying to create a case automatically when an email is created, using the automatic record creation and update rules I CRM 2015 SP1 online. I've been following the step-by-step instructions, but when I set up a new rule and go to 'Specify Record Creation And Update Details->Actions' and click on Create-> Case, I’m getting the error symbol straightaway when I choose to create a Case from the dropdown, but not when I choose Contact.
In addition, when I hover over the red X symbol that appears to the left, it says ‘One or more required properties for the step are missing. Specify the missing properties and try again.’ I’ve definitely filled out all required fields on the case. I even went back to the case form and made most required fields not required.
I've set the 'Source Type' to Email, have a queue chosen for 'Queue', and have tried checking & unchecking the 'Create records for email from unknown senders' checkbox.
Thanks in advance
Have you walked through these steps? Case Creation
Can you provide the steps that you have walked through? Could you also provide a screenshot of your settings?
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I have been following those steps. Here are some screenshots of what I've been doing.
1. Go to Service Management -> Automatic Record Creation and Update Rules
2. Click on New and create a new Rule
3. Enter details on first page, then click on '+' on the right for 'Specify Record Creation and Update Details'. For test purposes, I entered a condition as shown on the screenshot below: When Email subject contains data.
As you can see above, when I then choose 'Case' from the create drop down in the Actions section, a red 'X' symbol appears beside it, even when I have ALL required fields populated.
If I change it to 'Contact' for testing purposes, the red 'X' symbol disappears:
As this is out-of-the-box, I would have thought that it would be easy to set up a rule!
It seems that there is some field missing data in the case form, or the CRM didn`t recognize it.
The steps below are very simple, but I saw similar behavior on workflows steps and this helped solving the issue.
Try to remove all dynamic parameters from Case, save the form, reopen it and fill the data again.
Thanks for your reply. I'll try that.
If you have a 'roll up' field on the Case Entity - then this will fail and not work... Microsoft confirmed this as a known bug yesterday as I was having exactly the same issue.
I am getting same error while setting up rule for auto case creation . Please find the screenshot below and share comments .
