I am simply trying to embedded a link in an email to take a user to the Case entity using a custom view, but I am missing both the "Copy a Link" and "Email a Link" buttons from the menu bar. I have never noticed that before and I have googled it an have found nothing. What am I missing here?
Hi Ray, Thank you for reaching out.
Are the two items missing from the action bar where "+" "Close Case" etc.. are located? Or is that whole bar missing?
Have you selected the case from the view? The buttons won't appear until you select atleast one case. Just checking if that is the reason!!
one other thing to check....sometimes the options could be under the ellipses menu
Could you check in another browser. ( IE, Chrome, Firefox)
I inherited this from a 3rd Party MSFT Partner, so I did not build out the system. We are just about to rebuild on CRM 2016. To answer your question, yes the action bar is present, but no the “copy a link” and the “run a report” are not present, nor are they hidden in the “…” (ellipse) menu. These action items are in the menu for the OOB opportunity entity but not for cases. My goal is simple send a link for the default view for cases. I know that I can get/create that URL, but I am curious as to why these options are not in the default action bar…
busybell. THanks. Checked. All that is there is View, New System View, Custom Entity and System (I am logged in as an admin)
And the winner is! Meenoo... That was awesome but it is such strange behavior. Yes I knew that you had to select the case to get the full list of options, but I "assumed" that that would send only the link to the case, which is not what I wanted. I wanted the link to the View. And to your point, when you select an item the default is "send link" or the case, but then you can also override and send or the View. Odd. This is different behavior between the Opportunity entity Which shows the button even when you do select a record. Please check it out on your system to confirm or maybe there is something else going on that I am not aware of
Haha... :) :)
Thanks Ray.. I am glad.
Coming to your question, yes, Opportunity view gives you copy and email buttons without even selecting a record and the case view does not until you select one. Same with my system. To be honest, I am not sure either.. I am curious to see if someone can answer it.
