When trying to send an e-mail to a contact through CRM 2011, users receive a warning as they do not have the required permissions to do so
When cancel is pressed the E-Mail Activity Record is opened but the To-field is empty. So I think it's related to the fact that not all enabled users have the correct security role to write/edit/append the email field from a contact. The majority of our users have only 'read' rights on the contact entity.
How could this be solved without granting them edit/write privileges ?

Try providing append to permission on contact and append permission on activities.

changed the permission settings and published the customizations .. without success

is there an option to download the log file when the error shows up? For the security errors, there are, often, more details in the log.
Also.. when that email with empty "to" field shows up, what happens if the user populates "to" field with the contact and tries to send an email?
The field can be populated and the e-mail gets sent but the users receives again the same error message
So, basically, in the end it all works, but there is an error message along the way?

indeed. and I found out that it gives in fact the same message for every 'task, appointment, fax, letter or phone call' I want to add to the contact :
Insufficient Permissions You do not have permission to access these records. Contact your Microsoft Dynamics CRM administrator. Try Again Cancel

No unfortunately not
just the option 'Try Again' or 'Cancel'
Hm.. I think it would help all of us here if you posted a screenshot of that error. For example, the reason I keep asking is because I'm suspecting some sort of customization. If it were CRM, it probably would not work. But I might be wrong.. a screenshot would clarify this.

There is "use rich formatting" just above "submit" button when you are posting here.. You can attach images when in the "rich formatting" mode
