There are 2 types of marketing lists - static and dynamic.
I have created one of each in my account and wanted to sync the members of both the lists. However, I found out from the response of api call that I can only sync members of Static lists. I cannot get members of dynamic lists. Is that so ? Or am I missing anything here ?
https://<baseurl>/api/data/v9.0/lists - Response has both the lists - static and dynamic
https://<baseurl>/api/data/v9.0/listmembers - I get members of just Static list.
I know I can convert a Dynamic list to Static lists on UI using just a click of a button but I don't want to do it for all the dynamics lists I create.
This is because the dynamics list doesn't associate with the member directly unlike static where the record & marketing list get added as a record.
Dynamics list store the query which is executed at runtime to determine the list members. This is why the member count can vary.
The easiest way to sync the records in 2 separte ML is to create both as dynamics and use the same criteria to add the records.
Hope this helps.
I also figured out that we can use the `query` field of the response from the `lists` endpoint which is in XML format -> url-encode it -> send it to the `Accounts` endpoint as a url param
Accounts endpoints => https://<hostname>/api/data/v9.0/accounts?$count=true&fetchXml=<url-encoded-xml-from-query-field>
