Our company has mailed postcards to some of our CRM contacts as part of a marketing campaign and we'd like to record in our CRM who did we mailed the postcards to. Our end goal is to be able to select a single contact and view in their timeline if they were sent a postcard.
I have the postcards file attachments in a Sales Literature and I'm thinking i could at least add its URL to the contacts' timeline to point where to view the materials that were sent to them.
All the contacts we've mailed these postcards are in a Marketing List, so I thought I could create a Quick Campaign with the Activity Type of "Letter" but whenever I enter the URL of the Sales Literature in the description, I get an error. I've noticed that after the letter activity is created I can now add the link in the description when I select all the letter activities in bulk. However, the URL in the description does not behave as a link, it's not clickable.
Could someone more experience share what's the best practice to achieve the end goal?
This is just a thought (haven't tried it), if it allows, you can create a new field on letter entity say "Letter URL", while creating, set the format as url so that when you paste any value thee, its clickable. Now while creating the letters, instead of populating the description field, you can try populating this new url field. thus on all the letters, you will have clickable url in the new field.
Hope this helps.
