we are facing an issue with importing records,
Error as below:
The record could not be updated because the original record no longer exists in Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Note: the above error copied from Description which is available only when I give forceClassic=1 in the URL (ex: https://xxxxxxx.crm5.dynamics.com/main.aspx?forceClassic=1&newWindow=true&pagetype=entityrecord&etn=importfile&id=616df6c1-c61c-ea11-a811-000d3a07b49b), and this Description value is null in the Unified Interface form.
that is actually something tricky one has to know to work with.
When you are exporting data into Excel files from Dynamics 365 the system exports the records with their GUIDs and some other data. It is done so, because you could edit a bunch of records in your excel file, re-import into the same organization and the changes would automatically apply to the existing records. It works because the system finds these records via the data which is in the columns A, B and C in the excel file.
If you want to import an excel file into a totally empty environment and you are fully sure that both instance are exactly the same, you need to empty the Columns A, B and C inside the excel file. Open your Export file and you will notice that the table starts with column D. The first three columns are hidden. You need to "pull" them out by clicking and holding the left border of the D column. Once you have all columns visible simply empty all values in them. Then import that file into the new environment. Since there are no GUIDs etc. the system will automatically create new records.
