I have created two system workflows that will trigger after every 30 mins and call each other having the similar logic to stop it for going on infinite loop.
But now it is working for some indefinite time then getting stopped without any error. Why?
Any suggestion how to run a workflow every 30 mins interval?
This is because Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement has a built in safeguard to prevent infinite loops, which can severely bog down the system. If a workflow calls itself more than seven times within an hour, the eighth attempt will fail.
The maximum depth for a recurrence/loop is 8; however, the depth is reset after 1 hour of inactivity (wait).
Therefore, it is not recommended to set the running interval of the workflow to less than 1 hour.
To make the workflow run every 30 mins interval, you need to add a Wait step - Timeout 30 mins and start the child workflow.
