Hi FellasJust would like to brainstorm whether it is a good approach to create database trigger to update lookup field name attribute for reformatting purpose since if we create plugin, the entity reference object will just get the key field of the looked up field and the format is not of our favor since this is for integration purpose and user would like to get it reformatted when displayed onto the screen as lookup field. I know that this may be some approach that needs to be avoided, however, other than restructing the database again, this is the most efficient and effective way that I can think of so far.
Furthermore, this will be done upon custom entity and field, so I kind of presume that even though that there is crm version upgrade, this will less likely be affected, won't it? Thanks!
P.S.: Dynamics CRM D365 On Premise v9
I am not sure about the database trigger. However in plugin you can call service.retrieve to get name attribute to update lookup.
It is just one service call we need to do in plugin.
Hi Bipin Kumar
I know what you meant, but what we would like to achieve here is to update the name attribute of the lookup field itself on the child record and what I have discovered so far is to use entity reference by passing the guid of the looked up value and there is no way found yet to update the name using that method.
