We received a subject access request and had to provide all emails related to a case that had been open for 5 years with regular communication. The only way I can see to export this information is into since Excel files where it also pulls all information including html, code and email signatures. I've been able to remove the HTML with <*> find/replace and some of the other repeat items like parts of the email signature which takes quite some time due to the limited characters in Find/Replace.
Even once I've spent a good while cleaning up this data in Excel it's a mess and not suitable to handover to customers. Copying it into Word is time consuming and requires much formatting too.
I only work with a tiny percentage of what Dynamics can provide so I'm stunned when things I'd imagine should be simple and key like this are so difficult. Am I missing something obvious that would allow us to export all of these emails as individual email files, in a readable text format or even just to Word?
If it is the case that these can only be downloaded into Excel, where a whole email chain is squeezed into a single, is there any plan to make this more user friendly? Are there any alternatives to make this simpler to get the data out while remaining as easy to track the emails into cases?
Any help appreciated,
if you want to see clear text in excel you could try as follows:
1) Create a plugin/workflow which will use this code:
2) Run this plugin on demand, to populate a "plain text" new attribute
3) Retrieve this attribute on your excel
