I'm trying to work out how my users can search with items from a multiline text field.
I have a supplier account and a custom field called Business Area : this is populated from a form and can be any number of different items, so i didn't want to create this a choice as it needs to be dynamic and they can also submit their own business areas.
I need the users to be able to search based on text in these fields, it seems to only match the first line of text so example is
A supplier will have a business area formatted like this:
Hotel; Transport; Catering
if the users searching Hotel the account is displayed, if the users searched Transport, nothing is displayed. is there a better way to do this or do i need to form that column differently or use something else?
Try to use Advanced find with Multi Line Text in the criteria section with operation "Contains"
Thanks Ossama. I'm a bit new to setting up this side of things, is Advanced part of the search options? how do access this?
in the bar Dynamics CRM you can find "Filter icon"
Highlighted in Yellow as above.
Then you will get a screen like the below:
As you see you select the entity that you want to query in (like Account in the picture) and then you can write your criteria (as you see select)
so its will be like that:
Also check this Reference for more information: www.advantage.co.uk/.../how-to-create-and-use-advanced-find-in-dynamics-365
ahh thanks, i was hoping to be able to modify the quick search as using the advanced search isn't great for the users due to the amount of columns we have. But looking it it doesn't seem possible to change Quick Search to search contains instead of starts with, and without using a wildcard
go to Setting --> Administration --> System Setting
in the general Tab
see the pic:
then select what entity you need
Also, you will add the multiline text field in the Quick find view
Add the field from the highlighted link as below
Also you can take a look in the new setting : www.inogic.com/.../
