We want to import Appointment activities which will have a parent contact. Could we include the contact on the import file for the appointments where it will find the existing contact to associate it with or create a brand new contact if it doesn't exist?
In CRM when we import file and if associated record does not exists in CRM system then that record will not be created.
I was trying to create the task records with above data but after import it only create records where lookup reference found.
i.e. "Task With Contact" this will be created in CRM system after import. And below error message appears for "Task Without Contact" task record. Now, here if you have less number of records then you can import all records which have the lookup reference and then for all failed records first resolve the lookup reference then import the failed records. One more way we have using SSIS package. Please let me know if you need any information about SSIS package.Thanks,Pradeep.Please mark this as VERIFIED if it helps.
Hi, here you can find information that can help when importing data:
Import data (Dynamics 365 Marketing) | Microsoft Docs
I hope this helps.
So to make sure I understand.. using the Out of the Box Import Wizard we can only associate the types of records we import to a parent if it exists. if it doesn't exist it will not create new records, we would have to import that entity itself, correct?
Yes you are correct CRM Learner 8.Thanks,Pradeep.
