We have a customer there have performance issues on there XAL database after they moved it from a physical machine to a CIFS share presented by a NetApp Controller.
Does anyone have any experience with such a setup, and know where to performance tune on this.
We can not see any performance issues on the NetApp.
Info regarding XAL:
XAL Kernel Version is 3.55.1 Native
Applications Version is 3.5 sp5
My guess would be that it is a problem related to file locks not being comunicated properly between clients and the NAS.
Is performance poor when only one user is logged into XAL, and drops when second user logs in?
The performance is only poor when they run a large monthly report on the database.
When it was on a physical server, the job was running for 30 minutes, on the NetApp it run's for 3.5 hour :(
Right now we have a case running together with NetApp and hope that we can get closer to a solution.
Communication from klient to Native XAL DB is that a single thread communication or a mult thread communication.
If it is a single thread, can it be changed to a multi thread?
The individual XAL session is single threaded, and that cannot be changed, but each XAL file can be accessed by multible XAL sessions in a multi user environment.
What are your start up parameters?
I don't know the start up parameters. :(
But I know that they use the XAL in a multi user environment.
I assume that when they run the large monthly job, it is executed from one XAL klient and is therefore a single thread session.
