How to import Data Exchange Defenition, into a general journal without Payroll function, or complete data

Hi,

I created my first Data Exchange Definition to import a csv file into a general journal in Business Central.

However I am struggling on some points:

1. Isn't there a way to have it imported without having the Type set to Payroll Import? Other forum answer gives this as a work around. I cannot find articles how to import Generic Import types

I want to make use of Generic Import as the csv file contains almost 700 lines which are not related to salary

2. When I import it via the Payroll button in the G/L journal, the date imported is always January (file contains 30-09-2022, imported as Posting date 30-01-2022)

3. I was also not able to have imported from the file the Shortcut dimension 1. (Column KP)

Result after import the csv file:

I hope someone can help me on those questions.

Thanks in advance,

I'm not sure if there is a standard way to import CSV.

    Check this link www.beyondit.gmbh/.../how-to-import-variable-csv-txt-files-with-the-data-exchange-framework-into-any-table

    Thanks Daniele and NavNab,

I will have made a button function to import the file for Generic Import.

Can you also help on the other questions/struggles I have?

    Thanks!

    Sven

My conclusion: As there is no standard available, you have to make modifications to define which definition to import and the import button

I was having same issue with dates. and then we got the fix. Make sure the m is capital. In US, it should be M/d/yyyy

this alone fixed the problem, weird solution but it worked
