Data Access Restriction for Goals and Assessment in D365 F&O HR Module

Dear Dynamics Community,
 
I hope this message finds you well. I am currently facing a challenge in the HR module of D365 F&O and would greatly appreciate your assistance.
 
I am looking to implement data access restrictions on Goals and Assessments based on hierarchy and other specified criteria. Below are some examples to illustrate my requirements:
 
Goal and Review Access:
Managers should have exclusive access to view their own and employee goals and share reviews.
Other employees, such as peers and matrix managers, should be able to perform the same review actions as managers.

Competency Restrictions:
Competency assessments should be applicable only to employees designated as Managers.

    Hello Hitesh,
     
    1. Goals and Review access: Standard functionality is Employees look at their own data and managers can look at direct reports and below based on line manager hierarchy
    2. Peer and Matrix manager: Consider using performance journal entries to gather feedback and include into performance reviews. Or a simple canvas app. Also worth looking at the Review workflow to add an extra approval step of the matrix manager(to be tried)
    3. Competency for only managers: Use a dedicated performance review template for this.

    Hi Hitesh,
     
    As per your requirement, you need a developer who can customize. You can do this with or without XDS policy. We have some tables for Managers just like ESS or MSS and you can use this table and customize as per your requirement.

    Hi HItesh,
     
    I'm not familiar with all HR-related forms for data security based on a managerial hierarchy. There are some features where managers can see records from their team only. Peers and matrix managers are no direct managers of the employees and would then not see the records you intend to provide to them. In the scenario where peers and matrix managers will not see the correct records or the scenario where forms will show all records, you would need to go for a customization to achieve some data restrictions on those forms.

    Is there no hierarchy restriction in dynamics? Can any restrictions be imposed without customization?

    Hi Hitesh,
     
    What I understand is that users should be able to start the same menu items, but need restrictions on the data presented to them. For that purpose, you can implement security policies. This is part of the Extensible Data Security (XDS) framework, which is a development task.
    Let us know if you need some more guidance with XDS.
