Looking for some advice

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Good day everyone,

I am hoping someone can offer me some advice to tackle a new RMS project. We are looking for a way to setup customer with a "store membership".

What this means is the a customers account will be flagged in some form as either being a member or not, and if they are a member it will notify the cashier once they are selected for a transaction as being a member and thus eligable for certain discounts.

We would also like to be able to mark there accounts as wanting to receive membership emails (yes/no) and if yes have a list of 6 different topics then can be marked as to what they would receive. (the emails would not be sent automatically someone would be collecting this info via reports)

This would also need to sync with our website so people can sign-up there too.

If someone has any suggestions on configuring something like this, or a add-on that has features like this that would be great.

Thanks.

A single text caption could be used for all 6 topics if you use single characters to represent each topic.

Example: AFTRW would mean customer is interested in 5 topics represented by those letters.

You could use a date caption to indicate a valid membership (starting date).

You could use a numeric caption to track a membership number.

Or issue serialized membership cards or key fobs that are barcoded. Scan the card into the customer's account code when they become a member. Customers who aren't members will show default account code. Cashiers can also scan a membership card to quickly look up customer in POS.

The only problem with using the Captions for this, is that there is not enough text caption fields for what we need. otherwise that would have worked fine.

How would i go about using the html status fields to pop-up a message based on a flag on a customer's account?

Just to clarify.  If you using the html status display at the top of the pos transaction screen.  when you select the customer it will also show the custom caption information.  this way you can relay information to the cashier at the time of the sale.

You can use the customer captions for collecting text / numeric / date data.

For example our clients use the text fields for Membership type and send email ok option.

In Store Manager you can configure the customer captions.

    File > Configuration > Captions.

You will enter the title of the captions here.

Than in Customer > Properties > Additional tab > you can set the fields for the Customer.

To give discount you can use a % Discount or Price Level discount for customer.

    Hope this helps.
