Expired Batch Handling

We are currently experiencing an issue when transferring inventory from one store to another, as the batch associated with the item has already expired.

Is there a way to allow the transfer of inventory from an expired batch?

I noticed that Dynamics 365 provides a Batch disposition code setting. Could this functionality be used to permit the transfer? Additionally, is it possible to apply or update a Batch disposition code for an existing batch that has already been created?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

For updating the batch disposition code for an existing batch, select the batch, click on
"Reset" >Reset batch disposition code and select the required disposition code.

    Regards,
    Venkat

    Good day,

How often does this scenario occur?

I believe there are a few options:

    1. Change the transfer parameters for the batch disposition code to "No"

    2. Configure a new disposition code for transfers where the transfer parameters have been set to "No"

    Best regards,
    Laurens van der Tang

I found that the "Override FEFO date control" toggle resolves this issue. However, I would like to understand the business process impact of enabling it.

    Hi,

In your case I can see that the item which you were trying to transfer an item model group 'FEFO data controlled' which means that system will apply the First expired first in line for shipping.

Now as your item has only batch and that is already expired. As a result, the error comes when you try to ship the expired batch. When you uncheck the 'Override FEFO date controlled' system bypasses the FEFO expiration and you are able to proceed.

To be 100% clear please share

1 - Confirm your item has item model group which has 'FEFO date controlled' checked
2 - Share the batch master screenshot with expiration date. Is batch disposition code updated?
3 - Share Transfer order ship date?
4 - How was batch reserved? Manually by you or are you using automatic reservation?
5 - How was the batch picked? Advance warehouse or non advance warehouse?

Please share above info for better clarity for all.

    Hi Sagar and everyone,
Thanks for the reply. To give you a bit more context on our setup: We are using non-WMS for transfer order and manual reservations. Our Item model group has "FEFO date-controlled" turned on, and we aren't currently using Batch disposition codes.
I've been testing that "Override FEFO date control" toggle to handle these expired batch transfers, but I ran into a bit of a problem. While it does let me bypass the expiry date check, it also seems to skip the physical inventory check entirely. It basically allows the transfer to go through even if there isn't enough stock on hand, which is a big risk for our inventory accuracy.
I'm looking for a better way to handle this for future cases. Is there a "standard" way to allow transfers of expired stock without losing the physical stock validation?
Would setting up Batch Disposition Codes be the right move here, or is there another setting I should be looking at?
Appreciate any advice you can share!
